Shape Up With us This Spring!

This Spring in Rock 'n' Kids we are exercising our bodies and our brains with songs and activities about shapes! Learning shapes is important for young children’s cognitive development. Shapes teach children how to observe and categorize what they see to define and organize the world around them. Because shapes are symbols, it helps them recognize other types of symbols, like letters and numbers, which will help them with reading, math and science!

There are many things parents can do at home with their children to help them learn their shapes. Ideas include: shape sorting games with simple household items; go on a shape hunt around their house; take a shape walk around the neighborhood or at a park; provide their child with paper and crayons to experiment with lines and shapes; read books and sing songs about shapes!

Our shape activities will be presented to each age as developmentally appropriate. Here are the list of shapes and information about this session!
